Managing DirectorStuart Barden
Stuart Barden is Managing Director at Lateral Investment Management. His primary responsibilities at Lateral includes sourcing new investments, conducting due diligence, executing transactions, and monitoring portfolio companies. Stuart is a member of the board of directors of companies in which Lateral Investment Management has invested, including Restoration Forest Products. Before Lateral, Stuart was a Vice President at White Oak Global Advisors, a multi-billion-dollar private credit firm. During his time at White Oak, Stuart focused on non-sponsor opportunistic and special situation investments in the business services, technology, manufacturing, aviation, and energy industries. Prior to White Oak Global Advisors, Stuart was a member of the Acquisitions Team at Actua Corp., formerly known as Internet Capital Group. Stuart was a member of the team that launched Internet Capital Group’s SaaS growth buyout and growth equity strategy in 2009. Stuart was active in the sourcing, due diligence, and execution of new acquisitions as well as working with portfolio companies in developing and executing organic and inorganic growth strategies.
Stuart earned his J.D from New York Law School where he was an International Law Fellow and a member of the Foreign Direct Investment International Moot Team. He received his B.S. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University where he was a Hudson-Holland Scholar.
Stuart has competed in the D10 (Wall Street Decathlon), a national athletic tour that brings together post-collegiate “executive athletes” who use their collective athleticism to produce a profound impact on pediatric cancer research, since 2016. He serves on the Board of the D10 and has raised over $200,000 benefitting the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Stuart’s other passions include spending time with his wife and son, fishing, and attending concerts for any and all types of live music.
